Praying for people affected by violent conflict around the world

Prayer is at the heart of what we do. As Christians, we believe that prayer changes things and it changes us. Since 1967 Cord has seen desperate situations transformed into new opportunities; sometimes in an instant, sometimes over much longer periods.

For this reason we invite our supporters to join us in prayer. It is the one thing that we can all do to support Cord’s work. Even if we do not have the resources to give much money, the energy to do a sponsored walk, or the time to volunteer, we have the capacity to pray – even while sitting in front of our computer!

Join us in prayer. Here are some ideas to get you started.
  • Pray regularly using the Cord prayer diary - contact us to sign-up for our postal mailings.
  • Around the world, Cord employs more than 800 people. From the UK office to the in-country teams and local staff, including refugees, pray that they will all work well together, as they strive to see Cord’s vision fulfilled. Pray for good relationships which build up and encourage every member of the Cord team.
  • The nature of our work means we are often in places that are potentially dangerous, travelling on difficult roads into isolated districts. Pray that God will protect Cord’s staff as they travel.
  • Pray for wisdom and guidance for those seeking to direct Cord’s steps.
  • Pray that Cord will continue to be able to find funding for our work, from international donors, trust funds, churches, schools and private individuals.
  • Pray for the communities where Cord is working; for refugees, local people and those trying to rebuild a life after years in exile and pray that Cord will be sensitive to their hopes and needs and able to assist them in the best way possible.

If you have been inspired by the work we do, and you’d like to get involved, you may like to use this prayer.
