Transforming Lives and Conflict
![]() CORD’s purpose as outlined in its Strategy 2007-2011 is to transform lives and conflict through working with people and communities affected by violent conflict; supporting them to enhance their lives through the sectors of Education and Livelihoods with a peacebuilding focus. CORD has also identified three key issues which it prioritises: HIV, Gender Equality and the Environment. These issues are referred to as cross-cutting, as we aim to address them across all our work. CORD’s preferred way of undertaking this work is through long-term partnerships with local organisations. When this is not possible CORD implements its own programmes. Working alongside local partners means that CORD’s work is rooted in local knowledge, giving us access to the grassroots communities and the issues they face. Our local partner benefits from CORD’s support in capacity development, as well as with funding and technical support to implement the activities. |
