We believe communities hold the keys to their own peace and we work alongside them for a peaceful future free from conflict. One UK city that has experienced the effects of conflict is Coventry which suffered heavily during the Second World War. Bishop Christopher of Coventry said, “Building long term peace is never easy; it takes perseverance and determination. You can’t rush a good cake either.” “Please support Cord’s Peace of Cake as a simple way in which we can all engage in supporting Cord’s peace agenda. By joining this nationwide venture you will be giving hope to thousands of families in Africa and south east Asia.” The campaign is being generously supported by tea giant Yorkshire Tea and celebrity cook Delia Smith has kindly recommended one of her favourite recipe for A Peace of Cake events. She said about her Preserved Ginger Cake with Lemon Icing, “In all my years of cooking, this is, quite simply, my favourite cake.” Cord’s Chief Executive Brian Wakley said, “This is such an easy campaign for people to join in with. We will certainly be holding A Peace of Cake event at the Cord office!”
