A message from Cord's new Chief Executive

Monday, 13 October 2008 16:16

Cord is delighted to announce that Brian Wakley has been appointed as Chief Executive, stepping up from his post as International Programmes Director.

A qualified civil engineer, Brian, who is 37, holds an MBA from Loughborough University; skills he has put to good use in his work for Cord, and in his former positions with the Christian International Peace Service and Skillshare International.

Married with four young children, Brian has travelled widely, implementing programmes across Africa, in India and South East Asia. He is a passionate advocate of working alongside local people and partners to achieve long term peace.

With current programmes in Chad with Sudanese refugees from Darfur, in Northern Uganda, Burundi and Cambodia, Cord has plans to launch new projects in Laos PDR, Burma/Myanmar, DRC and Sierra Leone.

Cord’s mandate of peace building across the conflict spectrum remains crucial, as we strive to see an end to the vicious circle that poverty and violent unrest produce.

Here Brian talks about the impact of Cord’s work, and how you can invest in the challenges ahead during these uncertain times of global recession.
