Leamington restaurant, Seasons, is offering customers the chance to make a donation to Cord when they save money by ordering tap water. Many people have wised up to the cost of bottled water in restaurants and ask for tap water instead, which is usually free. At Seasons restaurant, Warwick Street, Leamington Spa, tap water is free, but small cards will be on all tables from now on informing diners that they can choose to make a donation to local charity Cord because they are not paying for tap water. At Cord, we know that water can be the source of peace where there is tension over limited natural resources. Providing water and sanitation is just part of the peacebuilding and development work we do in Asia and Africa.
Cord’s Chief Executive Brian Wakley said, “For the people we work with getting access to clean water is life changing and can be a driver for peace. Donations from the restaurant will help us make peaceful lives a reality for many more people. We are very grateful to Seasons for this fundraising opportunity.” Seasons proprietor Pam Iredale said, “We are really pleased to support Cord’s work. The idea of the cards is a simple reminder of how fortunate we are to have access to clean safe drinking water in this country. We think our customers will love the idea!” |
