CORD’s vocational training programmes are a practical and vital part of building hope of a better life.

Daily existence in the camps can be monotonous and boring. Young men are being targeted by rebel forces to join up as conscripts – a lucrative temptation when you are the main bread winner for your younger siblings.

CORD offers alternatives by funding training in a variety of skills: by providing not just the know how but the tools and equipment to set up a small business.  Enterprises which offer a means of income generation, of becoming self supporting. Of gaining confidence, self belief and, importantly, of very real hope for a way out of despair and tragedy, now and in the future.

Our teacher training programme meets another vital need in the camps, and offers a professional skill for the future.
