It's Good to Talk Over the last few months our Fundraising Manager, Nick Thorley, has been phoning supporters who donate regularly to Cord. It’s an opportunity to say thank you for your ongoing kindness and commitment to peace. He had a great time, and I hope you enjoy reading some of his thoughts and reflections. If you would like to hear from Nick or a member of Cord's small team, please do let us know your phone number. We would love to talk to you! Communicating your impact As I’ve phoned people to thank them for their faithful giving, I’ve tried to emphasise the massive difference they are making. This is sometimes tricky to get across, especially when many of you are so humble! One lady told me: ‘Well I don’t really do anything.’ The truth is, without regular gifts like hers – or yours – we wouldn’t be able to deliver our work. Without the generosity of all of our supporters like you, we wouldn’t be able to have impacted the lives of 100,039 people in 2021. I heard often: ‘I know it's not a lot, but I trust it makes a difference.’ It honestly does!! Your support matters! Inspired by your conversations From those who were involved in the early days, to those who gave months or years in service to Cord overseas. It has been uplifting to hear how people have come to Cord in many different ways, and how they are continuing to create an impact. I wonder how many more supporters like you have their own special story to share! One lady had recently retired as a nurse, having spent decades in international development, which all began with her time at Cord. She told me that her son had just started his first job in international development – so the legacy lives on! Thank you, no thank you Many people have been pleasantly surprised to get a phone call simply thanking them for their support: ‘It's really nice to get this personal touch’ said one individual. People often thank me for the work that Cord is doing. I’ve reiterated how grateful we are to all of our supporters like you for making it possible. It’s a lovely exchange of reciprocal appreciation and gratitude. We’re all journeying together The best thing about chatting to people is that sense that you and I are all on the same team, all playing our part for peace. It’s great to update you on our projects, but it’s also a privilege to hear your stories about Cord and what has led you to invest so generously in peace and transformation. I honestly can’t wait to have more of these inspiring and refreshing conversations. If you would like to hear from myself or another member of our small team, please fill in the form to leave your details. We would love to make sure your details are up-to-date and to be able to keep in touch this way.
