How we celebrated International Day of Peace 2014

International Day of Peace is a poignant day for many, it’s a day to reflect on our world and promote peace. This year the theme was The Rights of People To Peace and here at Cord we had lots going on all around the Cord offices, here we look at what we’ve been up to.

Peace Day Cambodia

The Cord team in Phnom Penh led by Victory and Thavy had a fantastic session with Cord Partners and Stakeholders thinking and discussing about what Peace meant to them. They spent time:

Watched a short film about Peace

Acted out Role Play

Enjoyed food together

All in all it was a brilliant session, with them creating this vibrant piece of artwork bringing together all their discussions and feelings.

The UK team had a busy time as well supporting some dedicated Cord fundraisers running 5k as part of the Big Fun Run, which are a range of events happening all across the UK.

Our team were aptly running in Coventry, the City of Peace and Reconciliation on Peace Day itself.

The weather was good and the youngest Cord runner, Keva aged 3 (pictured), ran out of steam towards the finished line, but mum Sarah managed to make it a family effort.

We’re thrilled to see them running for Cord and raising much needed funds for our African and South East Asian projects.

#OneMinutePeacie on Facebook

The UK Fundraising team wanted to share peace amongst some people closer to home and launched the #OneMinutePeacie on Social Media. Making a shhhh sign they snapped themselves and recognised friends and family who could do with a minutes’ peace by tagging them.

If you know someone who would appreciate a minute’s peace, then do take a #OneMinutePeacie and tag them, and Cord, on your Facebook post. We’d love to see it.
